Jay considers having major influences on his musical ear throughout his life that lead to his love for electronic music and mixing today. Jay grew up in Kuwait playing games like Pac Man and Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo and listening to the repeated sounds from these games had a big influence on his id – the unconscious part of the brain.
However, he didn’t really get into electronic music until the year 2003 when he first heard “Crush” from Paul Van Dyk and later then bought his first EM album: Sasha:. Involver. His big influences today are James Holden, Steve Lawler, James Zabiela, Marc O'Tool and many more.
Jay later began contributing to the clubbing scene in Lebanon by throwing his first few gigs bringing big names like Kuffdam and Plant as well as Yvel and Tristan to Beirut. Standing behind the decks with Kuffdam, Jay felt the enigma of the crowds’ energy and knew at that precise moment that he wanted to be a DJ.
He played live at private parties experimenting with different sounds, practicing and improving his mixing skills and techniques in search for his musical identity. A few mixes later, he gradually began to recognize his signature sound: the sound that contains a diversity of many other sounds and has its unique flavor.
